I am now in my 4rd month of 2nd year. The first 2 months of the year were very busy. I spent at least 20 nights at the hospital in those first 2 months alone as I worked in the PICU and then as the "Mole" on night float. It was a very challenging few months for me physically and emotionally as I took care of some very sick children and even had a few that died which was heartbreaking for me. Obviously as a doctor I get used to sickness and death because it occurs often in my job, but I think the most heartbreaking part for me is watching the parents or other family grieve and plead with God when they feel so helpless and desperate. I still love my job, but it has been especially hard on me at times the last few months.
The last 2 months have been a little slower and I have actually been taking a sewing class during the last month with my new sister-in-law Keri. She married Paul's brother in July and we are so excited to have her in our family. She is also learning to sew so we are having fun learning together and sharing patterns and ideas. We are making a child's dress in the class and learning how to do collars and sleeves and buttons. I'll take a picture and post it when we are finished.
We recently harvested the sweet potatoes in our back yard garden. They were the last of the vegetables from the summer and wow were they big. Some were at least 5 lb. They are currently "curing" and we can hopefully eat them in a few weeks!
Here is a picture of my favorite sewing helper--He says "sew real fast Aunt Taire".
I will try to be better about blogging these next few months..I start another busy stretch on Friday so I can't make any promises! Happy Fall!
